Texting while driving has become a major problem in today’s society. Texting is the largest form of communication for many people. With text messages you can not tell if the person is texting from a safe place or from behind the wheel of a moving car. Texting from behind the wheel is a big distraction, when one’s focus should be on the road. Cause texting related accidents and fatalites, many states have made into law making it illegal to be texting and driving.
Texting is a dangerous behavior that not only does it effect the driver and their passengers, but as well as other drivers and their passengers, pedestrians and bicyclist. Drivers are aware of the consequences to texting while driving. Most states enforce texting laws with primary restrictions (They can pull over a person they see texting without having any other traffic offense). A few states it’s a secondary offense (An officer cannot pull one over just for texting, they must first make a traffic offense).
Texting is the most common form of communication in our society today. You can see people of all ages on devices such as tablets or phones. These devices give the person immediate accessibility to emails, internet, and other social media. Keep in mind, that some of these texts are coming from behind the wheel.
